Training SHED Body Stat Test

Whether you are a professional athlete or someone looking to improve your general health, fitness and well-being, body composition is your key to success.

Your body composition is made up of fat and muscle and put simply we can tell you what this is essentially giving you a lean mass percentage and a fat mass percentage which is also known more commonly as your body fat percentage.

Having a higher lean mass percentage or looking at it the other way, a lower fat mass percentage will improve your athleticism allowing you to perform and train better. You will feel fitter, stronger and leaner plus a lower fat mass also corresponds to specific health markers such as decreasing your risk of type 2 diabetes, hypertension and heart disease to name just a few all of which have been identified by the NHS.

Tracking your body composition is a fantastic and accurate way of measuring your health and fitness and much better than just stepping on those daunting bathroom scales. In all honesty if you weigh yourself then you should be monitoring your body composition too. By doing the two together you can track your progress easily and at the SHED we can advise you on the appropriate training and nutrition strategy to achieve your goals, simply and quickly. One without the other just doesn’t work! For example 2 people can weigh exactly the same but have different body compositions. Think of a modern-day professional rugby player (muscular and lean) versus an overweight person who does not exercise, both could weigh the same but have very different body compositions! This makes tracking your total body weight alone a very unreliable and totally useless measure of your health – if you drink a litre of water and then step on the scales you will weigh 1kg extra!

There are various ways to measure your body composition, at the Training Shed we use a Body Stat test that is accurate, reliable and consistent with its results as well as being proven scientifically. So, each time you measure your body composition at any Training Shed facility you can be 100% confident that you will get a reading that is correct and comparable to your previous tests. With this feedback, our SHED Coaches can make specific tweaks and suggestions to your training and nutrition plans in order to help you towards your goals even faster.

This vast array of health and wellness data is a great way to track your progress and help with personalised goal setting and tweaking of your current coaching plans. They are also very helpful in holding you to account, keeping you motivated and focussed between your phases of training. That’s another story all together but if you are not changing your training every 6 to 8 weeks you are definitely not making the most of your training time and probably not progressing much at all.  A simple body stat test tells us and you a lot of where you are now,  coupled with a few health and wellness or even sporting goals this allows us to plan your journey to success and keep you on track all the way to your goals.
