A common concern ladies have when coming to the SHED is when we introduce them to lifting weights and strength training.
The reaction we usually get is “I don’t want to get big and bulky, I just want to lose some weight, TONE UP and lose my wobbly bits. Should I just stick to my cardio?”
Firstly lets clear up the term “TONE UP”
What does it mean?
The term toning up comes from an increase in muscle while having a low enough body fat percentage to see the muscles shape and definition. The low body fat percentage takes care of the “wobbly bits” giving that toned look that people refer to.
